President’s Message

As we step into 2024, marking my first year as President of the Society of Structural Engineers, Sri Lanka, the prestigious professional body for Practicing Engineers and academics active in the field of structural engineering in Sri Lanka.

I’m delighted to take forward the success and resilience of our organization despite the challenges posed by the country’s financial crisis. This success is attributed to the meticulous planning, dedication, and unwavering commitment of our Executive Committee, volunteers, and members. I extend my gratitude to all those involved for their tireless efforts in advancing the goals of the SSESL.

As we navigate through the year ahead, amidst ongoing economic uncertainties, we are acutely aware of the challenges faced by our members and the broader Sri Lankan economy. SSESL remains steadfast in its commitment to support our members, particularly in light of limited local projects, by facilitating opportunities for overseas engagements and collaborating with industry stakeholders to revitalize the construction sector.

Additionally, we are dedicated to fostering professional development and outreach initiatives such as conferences, seminars and workshops to further enhance the involvement of our members and sponsors in order to resolve technical issues and maintain professional conduct among members of the society and external clients and stakeholders.

I am confident that our members will cooperate to the utmost in order to help our association grow from strength to strength and take the construction industry to the next level. Here’s to a promising new year filled with opportunities for growth and prosperity.
